Ballard & Associates, Inc. is approaching its 100th year of continuous operation. During its history the leadership of the firm has changed only five times. In 1908, Ballard & Associates began as a surveying firm, known as Louis J. Daigre and eventually became Louis J. Daigre & Son. Louis and his son, Jake, served as the Parish surveyor for many years. As a result, Ballard has compiled a large archive of surveys within Rapides Parish.

After its beginnings as a surveying firm Daigre expanded its services to provide engineering services. In 1967 the firm became known a Daigre, Meyer & Watts and then became Loius J. Daigre & Associates, Inc. in 1976 and Daigre Engineers, Inc. in 1978. Many of the engineers in Central Louisiana and surrounding areas started their careers with Daigre.

In 1982, Daigre Engineers, Inc. was purchased by C.E. Maguire, Inc. After operating this way for two years the employees and the local manager Jim Ballard repurchased the firm’s Alexandria operations from C.E. McGuire and became known as Ballard & Associates, Inc. Shortly thereafter, Ballard & Associates gained designation as an architectural-engineering firm.

Currently, Ballard & Associates serves as a professional engineering and surveying firm with twenty-four employees. Most recently, the firm has acquired Central Louisiana Consulting Engineers, Inc. As result, Ballard now offers a full compliment of civil engineering, structural engineering and surveying services.

Mr. David R. Pfeiffer, P.E., is owner & president of CLC Engineers, Inc. Mr. Pfeiffer has over sixteen years of engineering design experience as well as 10 plus years technical experience in Civil Engineering. Mr. Pfeiffer is a Professional Engineer registered in 26 States, one United States Territory, and one Canadian Providence.

In 1994 Mr. Pfeiffer established his own consulting engineering firm, Substation Design Services, Inc. (SDS). In 2001 Mr. Pfeiffer was approached by the partners of SGS Witter, Inc. with the proposal to become a partner and Vice President of SGS Witter, Inc.. At this time, SDS became the Alexandria, LA division of SGS Witter, Inc.

SGS Witter, Inc. was a privately owned engineering and consulting firm until November 2002 at which time SGS Witter, Inc. became part of TRC, a national publicly traded company. Mr. Pfeiffer remained as Vice President/C.O.O. of this firm until March of 2006 at which time he founded CLC Engineers, Inc.

The professional staff of CLC have provided expert services to a large client base across the United States including numerous municipalities, utility companies, and private sector clients. Dedicated to achieving client motivated goals, CLC Engineers, Inc. will provide expert services and endeavor to meet all customer expectations.

In January of 2007, Ballard and Associates and CLC Engineers, Inc. merged to become Ballard CLC.
